Sew & Sew Retreats went to France September 6 - 16, 2023
to Celebrate French Textiles!
We spent seven days in the French countryside
staying at the stunning Chateau Dumas
and then four days in Paris! C'est la vie!

Quilt artist and teacher Heidi Parkes joined us for the retreat.
She conducted an on-going workshop while at Chateau Dumas --
Courtepointe Carnet de Voyage Français or A French Travel Diary Quilt.
In Paris we'll have an embroidery workshop with haute couture embroider Rebecca Devaney. This will be held at Au Ver à Soie, the world's leading silk thread manufacturer, which is an exclusive opportunity with Rebecca as they are closed to the public. Plus Rebecca owns Textile Tours of Paris and she will be our guide for the haberdasheries and flea markets!
Additional highlights during our time at the Chateau included exploring markets,
visiting the ancient city of Albi, and wine tasting.
Then on to Paris to immerse ourselves in the exquisite and historic textiles of the past and present. Led by Rebecca Devaney of Textile Tours of Paris, we shopped famous haberdasheries and the flea markets plus toured the Musée Jouy de Toile.
Rebecca also held an embroidery workshop featuring her Samplers of Seduction box kit.
We also explored famous Paris sites including Versailles, Sainte-Chapelle, the Grande Opera, and on our last night we experienced the Moulin Rouge’s famous Can-Can dance and show!
