The gifted quilt artist and teacher Heidi Parkes will join us for the duration of the retreat.
She will conduct an on-going workshop while at Chateau Dumas --
Courtepointe Carnet de Voyage Français or A French Travel Diary Quilt.
In Paris we'll have an embroidery workshop with haute couture embroider Rebecca Devaney. This will be held at Au Ver à Soie, the world's leading silk thread manufacturer, which is an exclusive opportunity with Rebecca as they are closed to the public. Plus Rebecca owns Textile Tours of Paris and she will be our guide for the haberdasheries and flea markets!
Click here for more information about the workshops.
Additional highlights during our time at the Chateau include exploring Sunday markets,
visiting the ancient city of Albi, and wine tasting at the Chateau Haute-Serre.
Then on to Paris to immerse ourselves in the exquisite and historic textiles of the past and present, shop famous haberdasheries and the flea markets plus tour the Musée Jouy de Toile. We will also explore famous Paris sites including Versailles, Sainte-Chapelle, the Grande Opera*, and on our last night we will experience the Moulin Rouge’s famous Can-Can dance and show! Belles vacances!
* The Grande Opera house is the inspiration for The Phantom of The Opera,
and several of the stories and settings from the musical are based on real-life circumstances.
Sew & Sew Retreats brings people together with a similar interest and then offers the opportunity to spend memorable moments creating, learning, exploring, relaxing and laughing with like-minded people. I hope you will join us!
