My First Teddy Bear
My youngest son (I have three awesome boys/men) is expecting his first child in June. A Baby-Q shower was held for him and his girlfriend and I wanted to give something homemade. Something cute and loveable and huggable for my new grandchild.
I decided on a teddy bear. Years ago I fell in love with a blue velvet teddy bear with red plaid taffeta paws -it's so huggable. It inspired me to try to make one for my grandson to hug.
Looking around on the internet, I found an adorable bear with pattern and great instructions. (Thanks Purl Soho).
I chose blue stretchy fleece and an adorable two-toned blue polka dot cotton.
I worried about the eyes as the pattern called for buttons. I didn't think that was a good idea for little fingers. I found these eyes that are like a screw with a washer on the back side. Very baby-proof.
It was really fun to sew.
The teddy bear was a hit at the shower with lots of oohs and aahs and someone commented "That's a keepsake."
Plus my son was really touched that I made the stuffed teddy bear with love.
