Friendship
Today is Roxanne’s birthday. So I find myself reflective on this great friendship.
Working together and providing each other with some sanity and laughter on the job
The blessed birth of Roxanne’s children – Mario and Sophia
Supporting me thru divorce and changing my last name back to my maiden name on my work name plate with a bright yellow sticky note
Cheering me on as a single mother of three sons – Michael, Adam and Jake (and now three grandchildren)
Being proud of me earning my bachelor’s degree as an adult
Rescuing you and Sophia when your car broke down and getting Sophia to her camping trip
Inspiring me with your awesome garden, your cooking and canning skills, and your incredible talent!
Meeting at restaurants after work once a month where I was always late and where Roxanne had always played some trick on me, i.e., sugar packets in my menu
Sending Roxanne postcards from my world travels, like Copenhagen, New York and Paris, so she could live vicariously thru me when her children were too young for her to travel
Being my theater companion for more than a decade to the Milwaukee Rep,the Skylight Opera and many more
Outings to the Milwaukee Art Museum to see world-class exhibits, like the current exhibit – Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels
Going to my house to sew the hem on my blouse so I would be ready for my nephew’s wedding when I had been admitted to the hospital
Bringing me gas when I ran out during rush hour on the Hoan Bridge!
Being your “one” friend
Numerous special craft days at Roxanne’s home! Good food, good laughs, good discussions, good movies, good times, good Christmas cards!
Believing in me as I venture out on my own with Linda Sweek Designs
Partnering with me on Sew and Sew Retreats and Creative Workshops
I saw this quote from Charlotte’s Web earlier this week (the day I ran out of gas). I thought of us:
“Why did you do all this for me?' he asked. ’I don't deserve it. ...' 'You have been my friend,' replied Charlotte. 'That in itself is a tremendous thing.” ― E.B. White, Charlotte's Web
Happy birthday my friend!
