Eye Candy
A LOVELY day was spent with Heidi Parkes, quilt artist and a 2016 multiple first place winner at QuiltCon West, at the International Quilt Festival Chicago. The International Quilt Association is dedicated to the preservation of the art of quilting as an art form and the advancement of the state of the art throughout the world. The association provides dedicated quilt lovers the opportunity to work productively toward increasing the prestige, artistry, creativity, professionalism and recognition of quilts.
Heidi and I did some networking with other artists as well as staff from The Dairy Barn Art Center (organizers of Quilt National) and some shopping, but most of all we explored the rows of quilts. We analyzed their meaning and artistry, their composition and binding, their fabrics and color choices, and our emotional reaction (okay, we were a bit deep). We also had some great conversations, yummy food and lots of laughs. As I said – a LOVELY day.
Below are photos of just a small portion of the quilts on display – enjoy the eye candy!
