To Celebrate the Joyeux Noel Season...

we will go to Reims & Paris, both are in France.

We start in Reims, France and explore the famous Christmas Market, soak in some Champagne and have a textile workshop. Reims is a city in the heart of the Champagne region.

Then in Paris, France we will go to two Christmas Markets, have two textile workshops, take in a Christmas program, make cookies and have a joyeux good time!

Yes! You wanted more textile experiences on this Christmas trip so we have several half-day workshops scheduled to make you happy.

Kari Bender, shop owner of The Quilt Workshop/The Needlework Workshop, will teach a sweet project using felt (we are still workshopping this workshop). Kari is joining us for the entire retreat as the trip liaison.

Then in Paris, I, Linda Sweek your host and textile artist/teacher, will teach a class called Joyeux Tactile Textile. Taking a piece of pretty patterned fabric, we will embroider on the design, highlighting selected details. The embroidery created with needle and thread will completely transform the fabric, adding texture and dimension.

The Featured Artist, Anne Kelly, is inspired by people of the past or vintage objects, loves learning about other cultures and traditions. Anne then creates multi-layered works rich with meaning and visual interest. Her textiles become wall hangings and other home decor by using a mixture of mixed media collage and hand and machine embroidery. Anne will lead us in creating some Christmas ornaments.

What's Christmas without some cookie baking time?

We will have a Macron Workshop, where the Macron was first created - Ladurée. In a convivial atmosphere inspired by the kitchens of French châteaux, with old-fashioned tiled floors and copper utensils, join us to learn the secrets of the Maison's emblematic pastries.

Ladurée will be a lovely dose of Christmas spirit!

Feast your eyes on some Christmas eye candy.

How could you possibly resist this magical trip to France.

More information is coming soon. Registration will open in January for Celebrate Joyeux Noel starting in November 2025.

I know the wait will seem long. Like the feeling on Christmas Eve when you are waiting for Santa Claus to come. But just like Santa arrives every Christmas Eve, so will the registration open before you know it in mid January 2025.

Don't forget to put out some cookies and hot chocolate for when Santa finally gets to your home.
